Construction on Route 981, Section Q20 is now complete. It is the first of three planned traffic improvements. Construction on Section Y10 began in Fall 2025 to deliver new roadway alignments, roundabouts, and safety upgrades between Route 130 and the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport. Thank you for visiting the Laurel Valley Transportation Improvement Project (LVTIP) website, a product of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 12-0 and the Federal Highway Administration, in cooperation with Westmoreland County. The primary focus of the LVTIP is to improve safety, access and mobility along the Route 981 corridor between Route 819 and the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport.
